Altrusa is, first and foremost, a community based, grassroots organization that seeks to solve the problems in our back yards. Busy Altrusans raise money for local charities. Inspired by Thoreau, Mamie L. Bass put it best, "it is not enough to be good; Altrusans must be good for something."

Altrusa International, Inc., of Temple, Texas, seeks women and men of like mind to become Altrusans to develop ideas and to lead the community with projects that make an impact on the quality of life for everyone.  Lives are changed with the combined talents and skills of Altrusans everyday.

Making a difference in the community begins with recognizing that "basic needs for living a healthy lifestyle" affect literacy and learning skills. Altrusans support Camp Dreamcatcher to assist children and families affected by blood disorders and  cancer.  Campers experience the fun of summer camp with volunteers addressing their emotional and physical needs while having a fun summer camp experience.  To learn more about projects supported by Altrusans in Temple, plan to visit at a regular meeting.  Contact us to learn how you can be a part of your community by becoming an Altrusan.
